Doug and Cathy at Denham Bay

How's this for a honeymoon get away !  Doug and Cathy stayed a week at Denham Bay Resort at the end of Seprember, with a few days fishing and exploring, and some crabbing, too. Congratulations again, you two.

Denham Bay Resort is a unique facility in which you bring your own food and cook in the open air kitchen. You can travel easily from Campbell River by water taxi and bring what you need with you.  Hosts Pete and Sarah provide wonderful cabins and have taken care of the details. The location is right on Denham Bay, a very well known salmon fishing location, about an hour and a half travel by boat from Campbell River. http://www.denhambay.com/

Doug caught this lingcod himself, from the kayak !

Shamra rows me

Shamra has wanted to take more turns rowing over the years.  I have been reluctant to give up the oars. But now that she has caught a registered Tyee , she got to row and I held the rod.  On this afternoon she found a 24 and a 26 for me !

Shamra joins the Tyee Club

34 1/2 pounds !  Shamra caught this fish under the rules of the Tyee Club. She played the fish solidly, consistently, and it just would't quit easily. We drifted a long way with the tide and netted it in dim light. It is a very special and memorable occasion .

Hoping for a 30 pounder in the traditional Tyee Club method and catching regular large size mature chinooks is still a pretty terrific show. We missed Holly bunches this year. We hope you can both make it next year.

Jim and Tom

Jim and Tom, father and son, get together for a fishing trip.  See you next year.
